After 12 days in hospital I was physically and emotionally ready to go home. I did some blood tests, went and visited the transplant clinic and then HOME!

We had previously made the decision to take Evi out of school and put her in home school for the next few months. We decided on this so that no school sicknesses would get to me. This is great because Evi is always around, but we are very aware of not interrupting her school day too much. I waited until lunch time before she would see me. The smile, that came across her face and the pure excitement when she saw me for the first time melted my heart. I got my Evi cuddles, cuddles I had missed so much.

Evi, with some help from Shay, drew me an amazing “Welcome Home Daddy” card. Wow I missed my family so much.

I also received a whole bunch of things that would help me get through the next few months of isolation. So much thought went into each gift. I wish the person had left their name, but they didn’t. So, to the person who left these gifts for me this is for you…

“Thank you so much. The thought into each item is inspired. May the Lord bless you and your generous heart. You are so appreciated.”

It was so good to be home again. It was good to be back in my own bed. Back in familiar routines and back to my happy place. Sadly, this didn’t last long, and I was back in isolation at the hospital before the weeks end. More about that another time.
